Our Story
Trex Fencing has been in people’s backyards since 2005.
In 1989, what started out to be an installation company, FDS Distributors, began installing primarily wood fencing and decking. Then, in 1996, a revolutionary composite decking product was introduced to the market by TREX. Trex composite materials are made from 95% recycled plastic and wood, creating a board that has the strength of wood with the low-maintenance virtues of plastic. Trex composite boards do not require annual painting and staining, do not rot or decay, and continue to look beautiful over time.
FDS became an early adopter of the Trex composite materials, and it quickly became their go-to product for decking. FDS noticed quickly that customer satisfaction and the longevity of Trex decking were significantly better than those of wood decks and fences. Eight years later, FDS approached Trex with the idea of making a fencing product using the same composite materials they were currently using for Trex decking.
For the next two years, FDS worked with Trex to develop a composite fencing system that looked like their most popular wood fence. It looks great on both sides and, just like Trex composite decking, it does not rot or decay and does not need annual painting or staining. In 2005, FDS installed the first-ever Trex Seclusions Fence.
For twenty years, FDS Distributors has been the national distributor and partner with Trex, supplying customers across the United States and Canada with Trex fencing. FDS continues to grow and develop its partnership with Trex by bringing new and exciting fence products to the market.
