TREX BOARD-ON-BOARD COMPOSITE PICKETS REPLACE WOOD FENCE PICKETS

Wood fencing has a traditional appeal but the constant maintenance isn’t fun for anyone. Consider composite pickets from Trex. With a unique interlocking design which simulates a fully private board-on-board fence, Trex composite pickets are the long-lasting, natural looking upgrade to traditional 1×6 wood pickets.

We’re proud that our pickets are manufactured with environmentally-friendly methods. Additionally, with 95% recycled content and a 25-year expected lifetime, you can rest easy knowing you’re doing your part to reduce unnecessary waste.

ELIMINATE THE MAINTENANCE

Tired of replacing the wood pickets on your fence? Want to take back your weekends? Looking for a different design than traditional fence?

Trex fencing pickets are manufactured for longevity and require virtually no maintenance — just an occasional scrub to wash off dirt. Your time off is better spent fulfilling more enjoyable activities than laborious painting or staining. With Trex, it almost feels like cheating. The colors and dimensional lines of the Trex composite pickets system look fantastic and don’t require all the work to make the fence the best-looking on the block for years and years.

Unlike wood, you also won’t have to worry about rotting, something you’ve probably noticed at the bottom of your wooden fence. And, insects don’t like Trex composite pickets. That doesn’t offend us at all! Those pesky creatures are welcome to take up residence somewhere else.

INSTALLATION IS EASY

Installing Trex pickets isn’t difficult. Once your posts and rails are up, fasten the pickets to the fence one at a time by flipping them back and forth to interlock and give the fence it’s unique board-on-board look. Attach the composite pickets by screwing them in at the edges where the pickets interlock. If you’re using 3 rails, use 6 screws per picket that faces to you.

WHAT IS A BOARD-ON-BOARD FENCE?

A board-on-board fence is constructed by overlapping pickets (typically 1×6 boards) and screwing or nailing them to 2×4 rails. The benefit of this design is that it covers up the unsightly gaps that will appear between the pickets as the fence ages and the pickets shrink. Unfortunately for wood fencing, this won’t completely ensure continuous privacy. Wood tends to warp and twist so, over time, many pickets will bow which creates unintended gaps. Trex, on the other hand, uses an interlocking picket system which keeps the pickets from separating. That means full privacy throughout the fence’s life!
